As it turns out Petrol Air is an airline; however, in Airline Tycoon, it only sells kerosene and storage tanks. The Petrol Air counter can be found to the left of the Duty-Free Shop, just below the Airport Manager's office. Its shortcut key is: A, and its hours of operations are as follows:

  • Mondays to Saturdays: 11 - 7
  • Sundays: Closed

Petrol Air does not exist in Airline Tycoon 2.

KeroseneEdit

Kerosene prices on the global market fluctuate constantly. So the basic idea, here, is to buy extra kerosene when its market price is low. Then store it in storage tanks for future use, when the market price is very high so that the airline does not have to pay the high market prices for kerosene at that time, thus saving money. An Oil and Kerosene advisor can provide advice regarding the best time to buy kerosene from Petrol Air and the best time to resort to using kerosene from the storage tanks. You can hover your cursor over the graph on the back wall under the "PETROLAIR" sign to instantly see the current price of kerosene per barrel.

Petrol Air offers three types of kerosene:

  • Top of the line
  • Normal
  • Cheap kerosene which ruins your turbines

The "top of the line" kerosene is expensive, but is least likely to cause breakdowns with aircraft, thus reducing the risk of unnecessary maintenance and repair costs. An airline cannot purchase more kerosene than there is empty volume (expressed in "barrels," where 1 barrel = 1000 gallons of kerosene) in their purchased storage tanks.

To instruct the aircraft to refuel from the storage tanks (or market kerosene) return to the office, and click on the picture of the oil derrig on the wall.

Storage TanksEdit

All the excess kerosene must be stored somewhere and, ideally, there should be enough storage to hold enough kerosene so that all planes can be refueled from the tanks throughout the days when the market price for kerosene is unseemly high. These tanks can be purchased from Petrol Air. Petrol Air offers storage tanks of the following sizes (costs are presented in parentheses) of which 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 can be purchased in any given transaction:

  • 10,000 gallons ($10,000)
  • 30,000 gallons ($20,000)
  • 50,000 gallons ($40,000)
  • 100,000 gallons ($60,000)

This, for example, means that ten 100,000-gallon tanks provides 1,000,000 gallons of kerosene storage at $600,000. As a reminder: 1000 gallons of kerosene = 1 barrel of storage tank volume.
